Perfectly Preserved Podcast Ep 52 - Can you can on a glass top stove?

In this episode, we talk about how to can on a smooth cooktop stove and when you SHOULD NOT! If I had my druthers I would have a gas stove because the heat is consistent and sky is the limit. But, here we are with a glass top stove. Here are some things to think about and ask about if you plan to can on your stove.

First, contact the stove manufacturer and ask about weight limits, heat refraction and size/shape limits of the pots. Ask specifically about the brand of pressure canner that you plan to use and the amounts of jars you'll can.

I have a Fridgidare stovetop that is new and was given the go-ahead to use it for canning. I've used my All American (the heaviest of the pressure canners), the Presto pressure canner, and a water bath canner that's filled with 7 quart jars.

So, the takeaway with this is to contact the manufacturer!
