Perfectly Preserved Podcast Ep 30- Preserving Food to Save Money

I get asked this question a lot, "Do you actually save money by preserving your own food?" The short answer is yes. The longer answer is that there are a few up front costs associated with preserving and after that, you're golden.

Let me give you a few examples. I found a dehydrator at a yard sale and one at a thrift store for less than $20. Once I had that dehydrator I could then forage for fruit and use fruit from my trees for free. So, for me, that was a simple way to preserve food in a inexpensive way.

We discuss utilizing the freezer for taking in season fruit and flash freezing it. There are many ways to save money on food for food items that you're already eating.
